You know what? As a shop employee, I’m pissed as hell. What do I tell an employee that asks me why we didn’t get one? I have people that spend a large amount of money on Magic and deserve the same things that were contained in the premium Helvaults. I think it’s really unfair…

I just really don’t understand this school of thought…it was random.  According to Maro, the number of these premium Helvaults was in the extreme minority.  His words were that they didn’t even have enough premium cards to put just one in each Helvault.  Virtually everyone DID get the same as you.

As for what you tell your customers…the truth, I’d assume.  It’s entirely reasonable.  ”We didn’t get one because they didn’t make very many.”  I’d assume that anyone who KNOWS about the premium Helvaults would also have to know that Wizards sent them out randomly and so they’d be mad at Wizards, just like you.  But honestly, your customers didn’t “deserve” the premium cards any more than they “deserve” to get whatever chase rare it is that they want in every pack they open.

When the owner of my card shop gives away old foils, or boosters, or intro decks, no one else complains.  The winner gets his prize, everyone else moves on.  ”I sure wish I’d won.  That would have been awesome.”  No one insults the owner for his charity.  Why is this different?  It just seems like everyone’s upset because they didn’t get exactly what they wanted for Christmas.

Wizards will never do it again, that’s for sure.  They went through the effort to make us extra cards, the Helvaults themselves, put together a little theme night of fun.  And when it’s all over, everyone just complains.
